Provides expertise, service, and support in mathematics curriculum selection and implementation for PreK-12 mathematics. Provides leadership in the design and development of a curricular framework and professional learning for mathematics. Ensures that the mathematics programs address and support the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) system-wide goals and priorities, the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future implementation plan, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Math Policy, and the MSDE College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS) for mathematics in Grades PreK-8 and high school courses. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Develops a long-range professional learning plan and presents high quality professional learning to promote evidence-based instructional strategies across all secondary schools.
Provides leadership in the design and development, or selection of a curricula for mathematics for Grades PreK-8 and high school courses that align with Maryland College and Career Ready Standards and MSDE Math Policy. Ensure that curricula promote equity, are researched-based, culturally relevant, and reflect best practices for teaching and learning that includes current knowledge of lesson and unit planning, guidance for the skillful implementation of lessons, assessment, critical thinking, and brain research.
Provides leadership in the design, development, and monitoring of embedded formative and summative assessments for mathematics in Grades PreK - 12 that are integrated and aligned to the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards and MSDE Math Policy.
Demonstrates leadership in the understanding of assessment requirements and their instructional implications.
Identifies and recommends proactive strategies, intervention, and enrichment opportunities for all students in mathematics.
Demonstrates and models effective, research-based instructional practices for classroom teachers, administrators, staff development teachers, department chairs, and other support personnel.
Provides a list of approved textbooks, instructional materials, and software resources for use in mathematics instruction.
Provides consistent and ongoing support to all schools to guide the skillful implementation of the PreK-12 mathematics curriculum, while monitoring for effectiveness.
Collaborates and coordinates with other curricular offices to facilitate equitable and cohesive mathematics programming.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with MSDE, community agencies, institutions of higher education, and other leaders in mathematics that benefit schools and support system-wide priorities.
Collaborates and coordinates with the Department of Teacher Development, Special Education, Multilingual Achievement, and Early Childhood for the planning and delivery of content and pedagogy related high quality professional development for administrators, department chairs, teachers, and paraprofessionals.
Coordinates with the Department of Research, Accountability, and Assessments to monitor assessment administration and student learning outcomes of disaggregated student groups.
Provides parents, families, and community stakeholder groups with information and strategies that can be implemented with children to enhance student learning.
Supports the development of appropriate policies and procedures for mathematics.
Evaluates the performance and professional growth and development of staff within the Office of Mathematics.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, And Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree. Five years’ teaching or related experience across multiple grade bands. Three years’ leadership/management experience in an education setting.
Licenses And Certificates
Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate in an area appropriate to the assignment with an Administrator I endorsement.
OR
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional License in an area appropriate to the assignment and Administrator I Licensure.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Demonstration of content knowledge and understanding of instructional practices in mathematics; outstanding oral and written communications skills; demonstration of strong leadership, management, and human relations skills; possession of technology competency (e.g., database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications); skill and experience in data analysis and application. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to maintain confidential information.
Physical And Environmental Conditions
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities. Work outside of the traditional school day, including weekends, may be required.

Grade 11 on the CASE pay scale ($109,768 - $166,323)

Proof Of Degree Equivalency
• Applicants who have obtained a degree from outside the United States are required to submit degree equivalence documentation from a MSDE approved Foreign Transcript Evaluation Agency. This information is located on the MSDE website.
Pre-Employment Requirements
• All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109.
• Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
• If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
• Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via escript/clearinghouse from your university.
• Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
• All newly hired personnel must attend a Benefits and Retirement Orientation meeting.
• Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
