Assist in the system-wide procedures for identifying Multilingual learners. Administer standardized language proficiency assessment and other academic assessments to the potential Multilingual learners. Perform family engagement tasks during the enrollment process.

Responsibilities

• Interviews parents and students in another language to document complete educational history. Facilitates the process for any language needed to complete the process.
• Reviews and verifies confidential government documents presented by the family. Works closely with the registrar to review transcripts for determining eligibility for English Language Development (ELD) services.
• Assesses and scores students on English, math, and native language assessments.
• Answers telephone calls and provides information in languages other than English.
• Schedules appointments and maintains office calendars.
• Contacts parents/families in languages other than English to support families in navigating the school system and its resources.
• Enters data in digital platforms, creates spreadsheets, and reports.
• Creates posts for the office social media campaign in various media.
• Maintains office files and orders supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training, And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and college coursework.Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience Working With Immigrant Communities Required.

Experience in a K-12 educational systems preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Proficiency in at least one language other than English.

Demonstration of strong oral and written communication skills in multiple languages.

Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Physical And Environmental Conditions

The work of this class is generally performed in an office. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers and occasional limited physical activities.Work hours will include evenings and weekends.

Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required.

Conditions Of Employment

May be required to work additional hours with little or no notice.

SALARY: $18.54 per hour (contractual)

Pre-Employment Requirements

• All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109.
• Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
