Long-term Substitute Math Teacher

Villa Academy is an inclusive independent school community dedicated to developing the whole child in the Cabrinian tradition of “education of the heart.” Through dynamic, inquiry-based learning, Villa students become active agents of their own intellectual growth in preparation for lives of service and purpose.

Villa Academy seeks a middle school math teacher to be a long term substitute beginning August 17, 2026 and ending December 18. 2026. This substitute will be responsible for teaching three sections of math across 6th, 7th grade, and 8th grade and leading one Middle School advisory.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, student-centered individual eager to share their experience, enthusiasm, and expertise in independent school middle grades leadership. They will inspire students, faculty/staff, and families to learn and grow, and will enjoy working within a team setting of shared ideas and constructive feedback. They will lead with great initiative and cultural humility, and have keen problem-solving and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach three sections of math across 6th, 7th and 8th grade including 8th grade Geometry

• Support the development of the whole child through the creation of an inclusive classroom that welcomes a diversity of life experiences and learning profiles.

• Complete necessary grading and reporting for each student for each marking period

• Collaborate with the Math and Middle School team to facilitate the creation of a dynamic, inquiry-based classroom.

• Advise a group of 10 to 12 Middle School students.

• Attend student support, division, and faculty meetings as required.

• Assist with student support through various duties (carpool, recess, lunch, etc.)

• Be present on campus from 8am - 3:45pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required;

• Strong knowledge of core math topics including Algebra and Geometry and technology integration;

• Experience with effective student management and positive relationship building practices;

• Appreciation and enjoyment of middle school students and understanding of their learning and development;

• Knowledge and application of differentiated instruction;

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

The anticipated hourly rate is $32.25/hr. This position is not eligible for company benefits.
