School Principal
YESPhilly Accelerated High School
The School Principal serves as the chief instructional and operational leader of YESPhilly Accelerated High School and Youth Empowerment Services. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality academic programming, strong school culture, staff effectiveness, student success, and full compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and The School District of Philadelphia (SDP) requirements, while also stewarding the organization’s strategic vision, financial health, community partnerships, and long-term sustainability.
This position requires a PA Certified School Administrator with demonstrated expertise in alternative education, trauma-informed practice, instructional leadership, organizational management, and community engagement.
Core Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership & Operations
• Lead and supervise all instructional programming to ensure high academic standards, fidelity to curriculum, and compliance with PDE and SDP mandates
• Attend district-wide principal and leadership meetings
• Supervise, support, and evaluate all instructional staff
• Conduct required teacher observations and evaluations; provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development supporting instructional growth and Level II certification
• Contribute to operational and Instructional Walkthrough requirements, and required academic documentation
• Monitor classroom instruction and intervene as needed to strengthen teaching practice, classroom management, and student engagement
• Ensure instructional staff have appropriate curriculum materials, supplies, and technology to support effective teaching and learning
Assessment and Data Analysis:
• Implement and manage MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) frameworks, including Tier I–III grouping and intervention planning
• Analyze assessment data to inform instructional decisions, identify intervention needs, and track student progress
• Oversee the administration of local and state standardized assessments
School Climate, Student Support & Safety
• Build and sustain a positive, structured, and engaging school culture that reflects YESPhilly’s commitment to academic success, social-emotional growth, and student belonging
• Support the development and implementation of school-wide behavior frameworks, student handbooks, staff expectations, and code of conduct policies
• Support restorative conferences, mediations, suspensions, reinstatements, and parent engagement related to student behavior and safety
Organizational Leadership & Strategic Planning
• Serve as chief architect and steward of YESPhilly’s mission, vision, and alternative education model
• Collaborate with the Executive Leadership team to develop, implement, and monitor a multi-year strategic plan focused on student outcomes, career readiness, community engagement, and organizational sustainability
• Maintain strong relationships with SDP, Opportunity Network leadership, PDE, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, positive standing, and advocacy for program growth
• Lead staff with transparency, trust, and accessibility through open-door practices, feedback systems, and consistent communication
Community Engagement
• Represent YESPhilly in community, district, and partner forums.
• Leverage networks to advocate for partnerships with organizations that support student success in postsecondary education and careers
Human Resources & Staff Development
• With the Executive Leadership team, support teacher recruitment, hiring, onboarding, supervision, evaluation, and retention
• Establish clear job descriptions, performance expectations, and accountability systems for instructional staff
• Manage instructional staff recognition, wellness, professional growth, and corrective action, including disciplinary procedures and separation when necessary
Fiscal Management, Contracts & Compliance
• Responsibilities under this category will be minimal due to the part-time nature of this position
Facilities & Technology Management
• Ensure alignment between instructional goals, safety plans, and facility operations.

Qualifications
• Valid PA School Administrator Certification (required).
• Demonstrated experience as a school leader, preferably in alternative, accelerated, or opportunity-network settings.
• Strong background in instructional leadership, trauma-informed education, restorative practices, and student support systems.
• Proven success in organizational leadership and board collaboration.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Salary
• Per diem range is $50-$65, based on experience
Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
License/Certification:
• PA School Administrator Certification (Required)
