LOWER SCHOOL DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. The Lower School Director of Curriculum and Professional Development will lead, engage, and collaborate with teachers to enable reflection on current teaching practices and encourage opportunities for growth, ensuring that students continue to flourish.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•
Evaluate the Lower School curriculum for effectiveness and rigor.
•
Lead curriculum-review committees.
•
Support faculty in the successful implementation of new and existing programs.
•
Analyze student data and test scores to identify areas for curricular improvement.
•
Review curriculum through a DEI lens to ensure inclusivity and representation.
•
Lead grade-level and specialist meetings to align instruction and assessments.
•
Coordinate with Middle School leadership to ensure a smooth academic transition between divisions.
•
Align assessment practices and grading standards across the Lower School.
•
Design and lead annual professional development and faculty growth initiatives.
•
Oversee the professional development budget and support individual teacher goals.
•
Collaborate with the Isdell Center to integrate global leadership themes school-wide.
•
Provide direct coaching and mentorship to all classroom teachers.
•
Partner with faculty to ensure high-quality teaching and student engagement.
•
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•
Master’s degree in education; preferably with a concentration in curriculum and instruction, or a related instructional field
•
Minimum 8 years classroom teaching experience
•
Extensive knowledge of best practices related to curriculum and current research on curriculum trends
•
Administrative/leadership experience managing faculty and reviewing, designing and implementing curriculum
•
Deep understanding of the developmental needs of students in Pre-First through fifth grade
•
Strong oral and written communication skills
•
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
•
Excellent listener and collaborator
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•
Classroom environment that may regularly require the employee to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop or kneel
•
Ability to sit at a computer desk for an extended period
•
Ability to operate a computer, smart board and/or projector
•
Ability to lift, carry, push or pull 30-50 lbs with assistance
