8th Grade Student Worker

The Greeley 8th grade worker program is a school-based effort to engage capable students in meaningful work experiences. The program includes a component of learning and a component of working. Student workers and their guardian(s) understand that successful academic performance (grades of C or higher in all core subjects), attendance (90% attendance or higher), and appropriate behavior is required. Students who drop below grades of C, below 90% attendance, or behavioral infractions may be placed on warning or removed from job duties so that they can regain sufficient academic standing.
Job Summary: 8th Grade Student Workers support the school and the community in engaging all stakeholders to improve the Greeley experience. Student workers have varied tasks ranging from peer tutoring to computer repair to office work to community service and outreach.
This student employee position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 8 hours per week (likely 4 days per week 2 hours per day) during the school year and 20-30 hours per week in June for an anticipated period of 3 months beginning April 15 and ending June 30. The program may be renewed for the 24-25 school year beginning July 1, 2024. Preference is given to Greeley students and graduates. Students from other CPS schools may apply by invitation only.
The 8th Grade Student Worker will complete duties such as the following:Peer tutoringOffice SupportEnvironmental cleanupCommunity engagementOther duties as assigned The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred: Ability to apply critical thinking skills when faced with challenges in order to problem solve and arrive at a solutionStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to collaborate with school staff and peer students as an active member of a teamProficient in the use of digital technology (ex: basic computers skills)Capable of maintaining professionalism in various situationsAbility to manage time effectively and be punctual for scheduled meetings and work shifts.Strong work ethic and drive to successfully complete assigned tasks
In order to qualify for this student worker position, candidates must be actively enrolled as a CPS student. A valid work permit will be required for students under the age of 16.
