Thales Academy is currently hiring for a Safety Coordinator. This role will work with safety spanning all fourteen campus locations out of Raleigh, NC.

The School Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety procedures across campus to support a safe, secure, and well-managed learning environment. This role ensures effective emergency preparedness, daily operational safety, training, and risk management aligned with NC best practices for private schools.

Primary Job Responsibilities
• Reports to the Director of Safety
• Oversee campus traffic flow, carpool operations, roadway safety, and crossing guard coordination
• Manage student driver safety protocols and campus parking policies
• Monitor safety of playgrounds, outdoor spaces, and campus facilities
• Develop and lead emergency management planning, including lockdown procedures, drills, and staff training
• Enforce visitor sign-in procedures and controlled access to school buildings
• Oversee classroom, lab, and shop equipment safety, including required training, student sign offs, and parent liability waivers
• Ensure safety protocols for field trips and off campus activities
• Coordinate first aid readiness, injury reporting, and incident investigations
• Maintain accurate and concise safety documentation, training records, and compliance materials

Job Requirements
• BS degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent preferred
• Experience with site security, education settings, and emergency planning
• Willing to travel 10% to local NC sites for auditing and program roll out. Quarterly travel for 2 out of state campuses.
• Familiarity with private school safety practices and emergency response protocols in North Carolina
• Strong organizational, communication, and training skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, students, and families

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work standing for extended periods of time

• Required to use ladder, forklift or other means to acquire parts for product assembly

• Able to use power amp; hand tools, as well as electrical testing and measuring equipment

• Ability to lift 35 to 50 pounds independently
