Position Summary
The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop musically, academically and socially. The teacher will also be expected to maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator and fine arts coordinator. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.
Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
• Teaching certification recognized by the State of Oklahoma
• Additional coursework above bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Expertise
• Current knowledge of programmatic and administrative trends for program structure and curriculum development.
• Working knowledge of dance vocabulary and techniques.
• Instructs students in dance and ensures each student’s progress with as much individualization as possible.
• Presents dance concerts and recitals as dictated by the instructional needs of the students and the valid expectations of the local school and community.
• Instructs students on different dance styles to allow students to showcase their abilities and combine the techniques to create dance routines.
Essential Job Functions
• Presents performances of high musical quality in which groups are well-disciplined and make a good appearance.
• Selects all music and choreography of dance combinations that are age appropriate.
• Plans effectively for instruction, using knowledge of subject matter as well as knowledge of the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth process of students.
• Instruct students in curricular activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject area.
• Teaches district-approved curriculum by employing a variety of instructional techniques.
• Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum and district goals by establishing clear objectives for all lessons and communicating objectives to students.
• Meets expectations according to the regular teacher job description.
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

rapidly with changes in assignments and properly respond to complaints.
Attendance Statement
Able to be in attendance as contracted and for extra duties as assigned per district policy.
Environmental Conditions
Primarily inside working conditions; some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty/practices/student activities.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach.
Talking and hearing as to communicate verbally; smell to identify odors; close vision (clear vision at 20
inches or less) with or without correction; distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) with or without
correction; color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision, depth perception and

running/chasing student and/or to control student behavior
Travel Requirements
Some site to site travel during the work day may be required depending on assignment. Some weekend travel may be required for attendance at contests and performances.
