Position Summary

The Elementary Advanced Learning Teacher is responsible for the gifted, talented, and creative program at multiple elementary sites. This includes teaching gifted, talented, and creative students as part of a pull-out Advanced Learning program, working with Advanced Learning students’ and their regular education teachers on differentiation strategies, and identifying potentially gifted, talented, and creative students to participate in Advanced Learning.

Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university
• Teaching certification in Elementary Education recognized by the State of Oklahoma
• Experience in serving gifted and/or talented is preferred
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Assume leadership in all matters concerning Advanced Learning at all elementary schools of Mid-Del.
• Provide various advanced learning opportunities, both in the Advanced Learning classroom and the regular education classroom, for students identified as Gifted, Talented and Creative.
• Collaborate, coach and present staff development for regular education teachers on differentiated teaching and learning strategies and ways to enhance the regular classroom learning opportunities and differentiation to meet the needs of Advanced Learning students.
• Administer district-wide nationally-normed testing in various grades for identification of Gifted and/or Talented students.
• Document the services each Advanced Learning Student will receive, and prepare site Gifted and Talented report.
• Develop, modify, and realign the Advanced Learning curriculum, as needed.
• Meet regularly with the Coordinator of Advanced Learning and the rest of the Advanced Learning team to ensure a collaborative working relationship and consistency, to share ideas, and to identify and address common challenges and opportunities.
• Emphasize professional behavior, standards, ethics, and commitment to the service of Advanced Learning students, colleagues, and patrons.
• Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
