As the school year approaches its end, your chance to positively influence students is just beginning. We are seeking dedicated paraprofessionals and classroom aides to support K-12 students with special education needs in school-based settings. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience, strengthen your skills, and build meaningful connections before the fall hiring rush.
In your role as a Special Education Instructional Assistant, you will closely collaborate with licensed teachers to assist students with special needs in achieving academic, social, and emotional success. You'll provide personalized support through one-on-one interactions and small group assistance, tailored to meet each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support licensed staff in the educational setting.
• Assist students in achieving their individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Foster a positive classroom environment and help de-escalate challenging behaviors.
• Work with individuals or small groups during lessons and activities.
• Provide crisis support for students as necessary.
• Employ diverse learning methods to enhance student learning experiences.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma obtained in the United States.
• 6+ months of experience supporting individuals with special needs, preferably with children.
• Proficient in English (professional level).
• Authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship available).
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to remain active on your feet and move around the classroom throughout the day.
• Capacity to lift up to 20 lbs and safely assist students when necessary.
• Additional physical capabilities may be assessed during your application process.
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in special education, particularly with moderate to severe behaviors.
• Familiarity with personal care tasks including diapering and toileting.
• Ability to manage unexpected behaviors such as hitting or biting.
• Experience with students who elope.
• Knowledge of behavioral strategies and methodologies.
• Experience in data collection and following behavior intervention plans.
• Associate's degree or higher (or US equivalency).
• Pro-Act training certification.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
Compensation:
Pay: $22 - $24.50 per hour, with weekly payouts.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, within hours of 7:30 am - 3:00/4:30 pm (no weekend work).
