Job Description

Fellow Support Strategy & Execution
• Develop and implement a site-specific fellow experience strategy focused on belonging, professional growth, and retention.
• Lead execution of year-round programming to support fellows’ professional development, community connection, and leadership.
• In collaboration with the Executive Director and alignment with national strategy, set annual fellow success and satisfaction goals.
• Ensuring alignment of fellow programming with national priorities and requirements (e.g., AmeriCorps, edTPA, NextGen Initiatives, Certification).
• Use data and teacher feedback to adjust fellow support systems and increase impact.

Fellow Progress & Intervention
• Partner with Clinical Faculty and instructional staff to identify fellows in need of additional support.
• Lead fellow intervention processes, including concern intake, support planning, and progress tracking.
• Maintain documentation of fellow status and interventions in Compass or other platforms.
• Build direct relationships with fellows and serve as a trusted resource and advocate throughout their development.
• Manage all leave of absence and resignation process including fellow outreach and communication, alignment with American University, required documentation, and any required action items.

School & Partner Collaboration
• Maintain strong relationships with school leaders where fellows are placed.
• Coordinate with school partners and instructional staff to align support strategies for individual fellows.
• Attend school-based check-ins and meetings as needed to support fellow performance and partnership needs.
• Support the ED and Partnerships team with district and charter partner engagement when relevant to fellow experience.
• Maintain consistent communication with Host Teachers, checking in on fellow performance, attendance, and upcoming milestones

Team Leadership & Collaboration
• Facilitate regular team meetings to align fellow support strategies and share insights.
• Collaborate across regional teams to ensure smooth event logistics, systems, and communications related to the fellow experience.

Operational & Program Support
• Oversee region-based implementation of national programming milestones.
• Monitor Compass data and ensure fellows complete required action items related to credentialing and compliance.
• Help coordinate and support local fellow events and programming, in collaboration with the operations team.
• Support teacher recruitment and enrollment by participating in final interviews and local recruitment events as needed
• 7-10 years of experience in education, ideally including experience coaching or managing teachers.
• Experience working in urban schools or with first- through third-year teachers strongly preferred.
• Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills across lines of difference.
• High emotional intelligence and commitment to culturally competent leadership.
• Strategic and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders at once.
• Skilled at using data to guide decisions and measure program impact.
• Experience managing or coaching team members is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education, public policy, or related field preferred.
