**Overview:**
Orono Public Schools is seeking degreed professionals and licensed teachers to provide academic support to elementary students in a variety of subjects. As an Academic Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing personalized academic support, building confidence, and fostering a positive attitude toward learning. **Responsibilities:**
• Provide focused, individualized instruction and academic support to elementary students across a variety of subjects. * Create a positive, patient, and engaging learning atmosphere that motivates students and builds their self-esteem. * Provide responsive and clear communication to families regarding scheduling and student progress. * Communicate with district teachers and staff when appropriate, to best respond to student needs. **Qualifications:**
• Understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
• A genuine enjoyment of working with young children
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to use technology as an instructional tool
• College degree required
• Teaching license preferred
• Previous experience in a tutoring or teaching role is a plus
