About The Academy at Penn

The Academy at Penn is reimagining what high school can be. Created by Foundations, Inc. in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, the Consortium for Policy Research in Education, and the School District of Philadelphia, this five-year initiative brings together educators, families, and partners to help students succeed in high school, college, and beyond.

Each year, 50 ninth-grade students from the School of the Future and Horace Furness High School join a close-knit learning community where academics, mentorship, and real-world experiences come together. Through project-based learning, internships, and summer programming on the University of Pennsylvania campus, students build confidence, discover their interests, and prepare for success in college and in life.
