Art Teacher-Music
Position Purpose
The Music Teacher is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in core academic subject areas designed to fulfill their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Individuals in this role are expected to facilitate instructional practices that enable students to develop competencies and skills that will prepare them for success in higher education and society. Additionally, the Music Teacher creates a positive school culture of scholarship, character, and leadership traits.
Essential Functions
• Responsible for all curriculum and duties associated with comprehensive music offerings in grades K-5
• Should possess knowledge of music education
• Must be able to work in harmony with the fine and performing arts faculty, building a comprehensive and detailed curriculum to serve the needs of students and the community
• Willingness to begin development of elementary and middle school performance arts offerings
• Working knowledge of best practice strategies
• Ability to collect and analyze data to assess student achievement
• Ability to provide differentiated instruction for students
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff members, and students
• Ability to provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment
Demonstrated Technical Skills
• Keyboarding, internet, and email. Familiarity with student information systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
• Google applications including Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and Slides
• Possess computer competency and familiarity with emerging technologies
Classroom Management and Organization
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
• Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
• Takes all necessary and reasonable to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Use standard office equipment such as; personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Work Schedule
Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Contract.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of current art instructional teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of art curriculum and concepts.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Work in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
• Illinois State Certification as an Music Teacher required for position.
• Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
• Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Masters Degree preferred.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level and/or subject is a plus.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay: $60,000.00 - $78,699.00 per year
