Announcement: Stone Soup Fresno has an immediate job opening for a fulltime permanent Lead/Master Teacher to support Stone Soup Fresno Preschool. Interested applicant must have all required items, see “How to Apply” and must have excellent communication and people skills.

Under the direction of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Preschool Director and in accordance with Stone Soup Fresno’s mission, the Lead / Master Teacher will be responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program for preschool age children that complies with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. SSF Preschool is a license Preschool of the California Department of Education (CDE) California State Preschool Program (CSPP).

Stone Soup Fresno Organization: Stone Soup Fresno (SSF) was founded in 1996 and is a nonprofit 501c3 organization located in Fresno and has been serving the community for over 21 years. SSF Preschool is a California State Preschool Program (CSPP) and a partner with the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Early Care & Education Department Early Stars Program and is a recipient of Four Stars.

Important Eligibility Job Position Information: Please Read Thoroughly

· New hire must have completed all Title 22 and Title 5 licenses and permit requirements.

· New hire must have current and active CPR and First Aid certification.

· Position is contingent on the new hire successful live scan finger print, successful background check and prior work history reference checks.

· Position reports directly to the ECE Preschool Director.

· Position is a regular 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

· This position may shift work hours and employee may be asked to work anytime between the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in any 8 hours work period as needed.

· Position is dependent on grant and other funding sources. Should funding availability change, the hours per week or other factors of the position may be modify and or position may be eliminated due to lack of funding.

· Fulltime Master/Lead Teacher position is eligible for Stone Soup Fresno’s benefits package offered after the 60th day of employment.

Master/Lead Teacher Duties and Responsibilities:

· Working with the ECE Preschool Director, this position will facilitate classroom learning for children ages 3 to 5 by developing an academic and creativity programs paired activities to stimulate academic growth and personal growth.

· Prepare age appropriate lesson plans and conduct individual learning lessons, large group learning lessons and classroom learning lessons.

· Lead and provide classroom leadership to Teacher Assistants (TA) to ensure the classroom is a enriching learning space at all times.

· Establish safety policies and procedures for inside and outside the classroom for children and other preschool support staff.

· Responsible for the safety of children at all times, thus, become familiar with emergency procedures and protocols, know how to implement emergency protocols, and participate in regular safety drills.

· Conduct assessments of children to identify developmental needs to record to student personnel files and inform parents/guardian if additional assistance is identified.

· Identify learning problems and convene with child’s parent(s)/guardians and provide referral to professionals if necessary.

· Teach, instruct, observe and make corrections to children on good personal hygiene such as: hand washing, using tissue paper to wipe nose, covering their mouths when coughing or sneezing, etc..

· Create age appropriate learning environments to accommodate students, such as: preparing or making clay for students; cutting letters and/or numbers to prepare for lessons, and other lesson preparation as needed.

· Teach students to learn and become independent in shoe tying, putting on and taking off jackets and/or coats.

· Teach students to sing, dance, recite their alphabets, numbers, colors and shapes.

· Teach students to learn how to read at age appropriate levels for preschool.

· Teach students to learn how to write their name at age appropriate levels for preschool.

· Teach students to learn how to pick up after themselves and keep their personal areas and cubbies clean of toys, blankets, etc..

· Provide observations, safe-watch of students in outdoor play structures and play areas.

· Communicate and schedule twice a year Parent and Teacher conferences.

· Communicate with parents and talk with parents about behavioral ups and downs and ways to improve the child’s overall behavior.

· Provide nutritious snacks and meal assistance to students during meal times.

· Provide guidance and training to early care volunteers as needed in order to provide efficient support for classrooms.

· Clean up after all classroom activities, indoor activities, outdoor activities and Clean and sterilize equipment and toys daily.

· Responsible for cleanliness of classroom and all play areas at all times.

· Responsible for all cleaning products to be locked and out of reach of children.

· Conduct appropriate research and provide assistance to staff as needed to facilitate ongoing education and development screenings for children/students.

· Work with ECE Preschool Director to collect data and appropriate documentations as required under grant guidelines/funding guidelines.

· Work with ECE Preschool Director to ensure students wellbeing and ensure preschool environment is conducive of a positive learning experience.

· Encourage children with expressions and hugs and comfort children in times of need

· Participate in annual fundraising for the school.

· All other duties as assigned.

Pay and Benefits: Stone Soup Fresno offers a competitive hourly wage, medical, dental, vision, temporary life insurance, holiday paid time off and sick time off. Pay (hourly wage) is dependent on qualifications and past work experiences.

Language Skills: Ability to maintain cooperative relationships within a multi-cultural organizational environment. Ability to prepare accurate written reports to management. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues, parents, and children/students.

Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations may be helpful. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities: Be able to interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Establish consistent, stable and supportive relationships with staff, clients, Board members, and public. Prepare and manage classroom records, reports and other documents as required. Maintain confidentiality of records and SSF proprietary information. Be able to work with a diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic population. Organize/adjust priorities for multiple tasks and events. Be able to work under pressure of deadlines and the changing external community. Train and provide direction to others classroom employees and work as a team.
