Position Summary
Hours Per Week: Up to 19.5 hours per week
Department: Downtown Campus Learning Center- Virtual Reality Lab
Rate of Pay: $19.58 an hour
The Virtual Reality Lab Support Specialist performs duties related to the coordination of the Downtown Campus VRCade (Virtual Reality Lab), including managing equipment, tracking inventory, and monitoring lab usage. This position assists in the coordination of demonstrations and workshops, develops and implements new activities, interacts with students, faculty, staff, and administrators, and remains current on XR trends, technology, tools, and best practices.
The VR Lab Support Specialist makes recommendations in the development and implementation of policies and procedures and provides exceptional customer service to patrons.
The work schedule for this position may include working evenings and weekends.
About Temporary Employment
This position has 1 vacant position and will establish a qualified applicant pool for part-time temporary positions. Applications will remain active for 6 months to a year and selected candidates may be contacted as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise. Placement in the pool does not guarantee employment. The applicant pool will be refreshed annually.
Temporary applicants may be hired for specific assignments or placed in an applicant pool for future opportunities, depending on enrollment levels and business needs. If selected from this pool of applicants, candidates contacted will receive details regarding the specific assignment and will have the opportunity to confirm interest and availability.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversees VR Lab activities, workflows, lab and equipment usage tracking, assists patrons, assists with VR equipment check-out, and creates and maintains documentation of processes and procedures for the VR Lab
• Provides customer service to patrons, providing assistance with and troubleshooting VR Lab technology.
• Operates a variety of VR technologies, including the Meta Quest 2 and 3 VR headsets
• Monitors usage and traffic flow of the lab via Penji tracking software, as well as reports on the usage data and trends
• Manages and inventories VR lab equipment and supplies, prepares reports, and creates
• and maintains spreadsheets
• Serves as first point of contact for inquiries, concerns, procedures, and guidance on basic VR equipment operation for Learning Commons employees
• Orders and maintains materials and supplies
• Practices appropriate safety measures and procedures, and seeks ways to minimize hazards
• Manages projects and organizational tasks to ensure the timely, efficient, and accurate completion of work
• Conducts demonstrations and workshops and helps coordinate and plan instructional projects and new VR lab activities in conjunction with Learning Commons staff and managers for faculty, staff, and students
• Remains current on VR/XR trends, tools, and best practices; researches new products and technology; and supports management in making recommendations for facility changes and equipment needs
• Communicates and promotes VR Lab services, demonstrations, workshops, and new activities through newsletters, social media, and other promotions. Participates in college and/or department committees, campus activities, and outreach events
• Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor
Job Requirements/Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• One to three years of related experience
OR
• An equivalent combination of certification, education, and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Preferred
• Experience with video, computer gaming, or VR/XR
• Customer service experience
• Office support experience
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
• Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices
• Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices.

• Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)

• Environment: Work is performed primarily in a Virtual Reality lab environment with staff contact and frequent interruptions.
• Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a virtual reality lab setting; to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally position oneself to perform duties; to move, transport, and/or position objects of light to moderate (up to 20 pounds) amounts of weight; to operate office equipment
