Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year

Compensation Range: $44,770.00 – $50,550.80 annually (DOE)

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 2nd Grade Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that builds strong foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and critical thinking.

AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making.

This role requires a teacher who is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and fostering a positive, engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks for elementary subjects, including reading, writing, and mathematics.

Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.

Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and interventions.

Build strong foundational skills in reading comprehension, writing, numeracy, and problem-solving.

Classroom Culture & Student Support

Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.

Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student behavior and engagement.

Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.

Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to continuously improve instructional practices.

Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on student achievement and continuous improvement.

Family Engagement

Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.

Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
• Valid teaching certification in a relevant subject area, OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g., Education, Elementary Education, or similar field), OR
• Minimum of three (3) years of K–8 teaching experience

Additionally, candidates must:
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
• Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
• Possess strong analytical abilities and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction
• Demonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
• Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
