Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Middle School Science
• Location: Sonoran Science Academy – Tucson
• Daily Rate: $190
• Start Date: April 9
• End Date: May 22
• Position Type: Contract (Long-Term Substitute)
Sonoran Science Academy is seeking a dedicated and reliable Long-Term Substitute Teacher to lead Middle School Science classes for the remainder of the school year. This role requires someone who can step in confidently, maintain instructional continuity, and uphold strong classroom expectations from day one.
This is not a “babysitting” assignment. We are looking for a professional who values structure, consistency, and academic excellence—someone who understands that 5th grade sets the tone for middle school success.
Responsibilities
• Deliver daily instruction in Middle School Science aligned to Arizona state standards and school curriculum
• Implement prepared lesson plans and pacing guides, with the ability to adjust instruction as needed
• Maintain a structured, positive, and academically focused classroom environment
• Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Communicate professionally with parents, grade-level team members, and administration
• Attend required staff meetings and collaborate with the instructional team
• Uphold school policies, procedures, and expectations with consistency
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience teaching upper elementary science preferred
• Strong classroom management skills
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations
• Professional, dependable, and adaptable
