Oldfields School in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland, is an international all-girls boarding and day school, for students in grades 8-12. We are seeking a full-time, experienced science teacher to begin in mid-August 2026. The School is committed to teaching a population of diverse learners including multilingual learners. Therefore, the position requires a versatile teacher with experience in teaching physical, life and chemical sciences from the introductory level to the advanced/honors level. The ideal candidate will be energetic and engaging, with a willingness to inspire and support young women in a residential educational setting is best suited for this position.
Teaching Responsibilities :
• Teach five Science classes (This includes teaching core and elective courses.)
• Participate in the experiential May Program
• Maintain regular communication about student academic progress with students, parents, advisors, and Dean of Academics.
• Effectively use the School’s LMS.
• Effectively use Google Suite Apps.
• Adhere to and assist in enforcing all School policies and procedures.
• Promote the Mission of the School.
• Represent the School in a positive manner, maintaining an attitude that encourages teamwork and personal responsibility.
Other Required Duties :
• Serve as an advisor for 3-5 students.
• Faculty who receive residential housing and board are required to provide dorm supervision, periodic weekend duty and other duties pertinent to boarding school needs.
• Faculty who live off campus are required to provide monthly support for weekend activities.
• Coach or participate in extracurricular programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or other closely related field
• 1-3 years of teaching experience is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Appreciate and embrace the all-encompassing and interactive culture of a boarding school
• Respects the traditions and purpose of an all-girls secondary school education
• Experience in the areas of socio-emotional learning and/or neuroscience with an emphasis on adolescent girl development is preferred.
