Salary: $64,000 – $120,000 per year
About the Role

A dynamic, student-centered public charter school in Northwest Washington, D.C. is seeking an enthusiastic 10th Grade Chemistry Teacher to join its instructional team for immediate hire or the start of the next academic year.

This full-time, hybrid role includes on-campus instruction combined with remote planning and/or asynchronous responsibilities. The school emphasizes inquiry-based learning, strong academic routines, and culturally responsive instruction.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned high school chemistry instruction
• Teach core chemistry topics such as:
• Atomic structure
• Chemical bonding
• Stoichiometry
• Chemical reactions
• States of matter
• Acids and bases (based on curriculum)
• Design lessons that promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving
• Incorporate lab work, experiments, and real-world applications into instruction
• Use technology and data-driven strategies to enhance learning
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment (in-person and online)
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including students with IEPs and multilingual learners
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
• Provide timely, standards-aligned feedback to students
• Collaborate with science department and grade-level teams
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
• Participate in professional development and contribute to the school community
Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science, Education, or a related field
• Master’s degree preferred

Experience
• Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience (charter school experience preferred)
• Experience teaching high school science or chemistry preferred
• Experience with inquiry-based or lab-based instruction

Skills
• Strong content knowledge in chemistry
• Ability to deliver engaging, structured, and student-centered instruction
• Effective classroom management and organizational skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching
• Ability to obtain or hold appropriate DC teaching licensure
