Fresno Discovery Center is a hands-on science center located in Fresno, California, dedicated to inspiring curiosity and imagination through STEAM-focused experiences. Spanning 5.5 acres, the center features the renowned Deutsch Cactus Garden, a tortoise habitat, live animal exhibits, and interactive indoor displays. Thousands of visitors attend annually for field trips, camps, birthday parties, and community events such as EggFest and Tricks & Treats. With a diverse staff and volunteer base, Fresno Discovery Center is committed to providing accessible science education in a fun and family-friendly environment.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Clovis, CA. The Education Coordinator will oversee the planning, development, and facilitation of educational programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission to promote STEAM education. Responsibilities include creating engaging educational content, conducting hands-on learning activities, training and supervising education staff, and collaborating with community partners to expand outreach initiatives. The role also involves ensuring an exceptional guest experience during field trips, camps, and events while maintaining educational standards.
Qualifications
• Strong background and understanding in Education, Pedagogy, and Training to effectively develop and present educational programs.
• Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to engage with diverse audiences, including students, teachers, families, and community partners.
• Organizational and time-management skills to plan, execute, and oversee multiple programs and events simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a creative, solutions-oriented approach.
• Experience or knowledge in informal science education or STEAM programming is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Communication, or a related field preferred.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, based on program and event schedules.
• Passion for education and fostering a positive learning environment for individuals of all ages.
