Job Responsibilities:
• Support the Lead Teacher in managing, multi-grade level classroom(s).
• Implement Lead Teacher’s daily schedule and plan for educational small group scholar activities.
• Maintain a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and creative school culture in his/her classroom.
• Support the Lead Teacher in his/her classroom to hold all scholars to high and consistent behavioral expectations.
• Accurately and efficiently track student data and other information as needed.
• Proactively circulating throughout his/her classroom during the day, to gain valuable context on student behavior and help support positive school culture.
• Supervise class transitions, before school, during the day, and dismissal, making sure scholars are always where they are supposed to be and ensuring a professional school culture at all times.
• Model the school’s values and the standard for professional behavior.
• Follow all school policies for school culture.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of his/her classroom.
• Flexibility and willingness to actively participate in the school community including: tutoring students and working with parents and families.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills with scholars, parents, and colleagues.
• Understanding of the nuances of urban school environments and school culture.
• Experience with Elementary age scholars, preferably in a school setting.
• Belief in and alignment with Shining Star’s Christian beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
