Assists the Director of Athletics in the planning, development, and evaluation of the Allied Interscholastic Athletics Program in Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS).
Responsibilities
Attends monthly athletic director’s meetings and reports on progress of the Allied Interscholastic Program.
Develops, organizes, and maintains an effective Allied Interscholastic Athletic Program and related athletic policies.
Works as a facilitator to plan and implements the Allied Interscholastic Athletic Program with each secondary high school.
Submits annual data/reports to BCPS and the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA).
Serves as a point of contact for local, state, and national network initiatives.
Assists with school-based Pathways to Play Committees.
Provides leadership and training for coaches on the continuum of athletic opportunities for students with disabilities.
Assists with the preparation of annual budget/financial reports.
Assists with the preparation of regular season schedules and end of season tournaments.
Assists in the preparation and execution of the Allied Sports Handbook.
Helps plan and schedule rules interpretation meetings and in-service presentations for coaches prior to the start of their respective sports seasons.
Provides oversight and coordination of the middle school athletic program.
Maintain compliance with coach’s certification and team eligibility requirements.
Coordinates BCPS and MPSSAA seasonal standings.
Create seasonal senior awards for BCPS interscholastic athletic program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Three years of successful teaching and coaching experience.
Experience working with the Interscholastic Allied Sports Program. Experience representing BCPS at the district level. Experience with IEP/504 students.
Administrative experience preferred.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment.
OR
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Professional License appropriate to the area of assignment.
Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate or Advanced Professional License is preferred.
CPR, ED Concussion Management, and Care and Prevention Certifications required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public education. Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated strong leadership, management, and human relation skills. Possession of technology competency (e.g., database, Internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications); skill and experience in data analysis and application. Thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of Baltimore County Public Schools and Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association pertaining to interscholastic athletics. Possession of knowledge of special education processes (teaming) IEP, etc., and compliance issues. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to maintain confidential information.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office and school environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Requires attendance at evening and weekend meetings and events.
SALARY:
$72,621 - $143,653 (Effective 1/1/2026)

OTHER COMPENSATION: Position may be eligible for relocation bonus, extra duty activities pay, or other student activities pay as defined in the applicable Bargaining Unit Agreement.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
RETIREMENT: Eligible for the Maryland State Retirement System.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
• All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109.
• Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
• If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
• Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via e-script/clearinghouse from your university.
• Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
• All newly hired personnel must attend a Benefits and Retirement Orientation meeting.
• Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
